CIM
Navigator
Andy
Abendschein, DuskFire, Inc.
CimNavigator is a graphical tool that can be used to remotely explore, monitor, and manipulate CIM objects. Written in Java, CimNavigator can be run on any platform that has a compatible JVM, a graphical interface and a network connection. Core functionality includes the ability to create, modify, and delete arbitrary CIM objects, and to navigate the associations between those objects.
Originally written as a
simple tool to understand CIM and WBEM technologies, CimNavigator has
become a capable tool used by many developers and students worldwide.
CimNavigator is available at the eponymically named web site
www.cimnavigator.com.
This talk will present the essential capabilities of
CimNavigator, and how CimNavigator can be used by system modelers,
provider developers, and students in their day-to-day work.
Client
SDK
Carl Chan, WSI
The
WSI Client SDK is a freely available set of tools that allow a WBEM
developer to interact with other WBEM Servers. This lecture will
explain how this software package can be used to help WBEM developers
more quickly implement or test their WBEM management solutions . The
lecture will also explain and demonstrate how each utility in the
Client SDK works.
DMTF
Tools and Release Processes
Steve Jerman, Cisco
Julie Schott, Cisco
This presentation will give an
overview of the DMTF Release Process and the tool set that supports
them. This will be of interested to people interested in leveraging
the tools for their own use, for people who want to understand the
release process that the DMTF uses and also for MOF authors involved
in the DMTF process.
Developing
CIM Models in UML2 Tools using ECUTE
Robert
Kieninger, IBM
ECUTE
is an OpenSource project targeted to support the development of CIM
Models using UML Tools such as Rational Software Architect/Modeler
(RSM/RSA). It defines a mapping between the CIM Meta Schema and UML2
entities and provides a tool that allows to import and export CIM MOF
to and from UML Editors and adds editing capabilities for CIM
Qualifiers. In addition ECUTE is able to generate template code for
CMPI providers. The session describes the details of the approach
that was taken for the CIM to UML mapping and demonstrates the usage
of the ECUTE tool in RSA.
The target audience for this session is
developers of CIM Profiles, Schemas and CIM Providers.
Model

Steve
Jerman, Cisco
Julie Schott, Cisco
This
presentation will provide an overview of Cisco’s open source Model
Wizard Eclipse Plug-in. It will cover the following topics:
Installation and usage.
Customization and profile development.
Open source licensing and community process.
A
CIM/SMI-S Simulator using OpenPegasus
David Dalapati, BlueSAN
Technologies, LLC
This
presentation describes a CIM/SMI-S emulator using OpenPegasus. The
emulator makes development/testing/trouble-shooting/training of
upper level client applications much easier by providing a
flexible and easily manipulated environment in comparison to
real devices. Also, in many cases, setting up testing environment
with real devices for distributed teams could be prohibitively
expensive - in these situations, the emulator could be loaded with
data from real devices and could be used in place of real devices.
