| Monitoring the health of hardware systems in multi-vendor environments is a difficult problem for IT. The Common Diagnostic Model (CDM) uses CIM to solve this problem. The CDM Forum is a group of industry champions whose charter is to foster the adoption of CDM. Presentations will discuss CDM and the CDM Forum. Additional presentations will provide information and guidance about developing CDM solutions. |
For IT
staffs and the systems they manage, improvements in interoperability
between management applications and systems lower costs and increase
efficiency. This
track will provide sessions on topics such as the Systems
Management Architecture for Server Hardware (SMASH) and the Desktop/Mobile Architecture
for System Hardware (DASH) initiatives from the
Distributed Management Task Force (DMTF). The track will
include a discussion of
the emerging DMTF confomance programs for DASH and SMASH.
|
The
DMTF has recently started work on a Virtualization
Initiative. The rapid adoption of virtual infrastructure has created a
requirement for a standards-based management solution for virtual
machines/platforms. The sessions in this track will describe the
problem space, the solutions, the initiaitive schedule and goals. |
This
track will concentrate on how to manage storage based on the Storage
Management Initiative Specification (SMI-S)
from the Storage Network
Industry Association (SNIA).
Presentations will address the
various areas of storage management, such as SAN, NAS, Array, Fibre,
iSCSI as well as how to develop solutions based on the
specification. |

| Many
organizations are striving to base IT management on a CMDB (Configuration Management Database). A CMDB contains data describing managed resources like computer systems and application software, process artifacts like incident, problem and change records, and the relationships among these entities. |
This
track includes session on CIM Models and how they are being used in the
industry. This track will include use cases of how companies are using
CIM today to solve real world issues. |
The Developer Track focuses on the challenges facing a developer today in creating management client applications and instrumentation. The sessions will include (Application Programming Interfaces) APIs, Tips and Tricks, Security, Events/Indications and much more. The sessions will include code examples and demonstrations as well as WBEM Infrastrcuture talks. | Web Services is poised to become the basis for many future management standards based protocols. This track will concentrate on two new efforts for standardizing web services for management: WSDM and WS-Management. |
